Wonderful Indonesia
is one of a big event in China, which is an event of the culture of Indonesia. This event is held annually by the Indonesian Students Council of Huaqiao University in Xiamen, China. It is supported by Consul General of The Republic of Indonesia in Guangzhou and Indonesian’s Ministry of Tourism.
“The Charm of Indonesia”
It was the theme for Wonderful Indonesia 2016. By this theme, the charm of 5 bigger islands of Indonesia, which are Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Sulawesi, and Papua, and the most famous island in Indonesia, called Bali, were chosen to become the representative of the charm of Indonesia as the design elements.
Wonderful Indonesia also called as 印尼夜市 (yin ni ye shi) in Chinese.
印尼 means Indonesia and 夜市 means night market, so it means Indonesia’s Night Market, because this event was held in the evening and there were so many bazaar booths and sold Indonesian foods and stuffs. So the black background in the design represents the night.
Kawung
One of Batik’s pattern called Kawung also used as background and it coloured looks like lights to make the night beautiful. The meaning of Kawung pattern itself is one has not to forget their origin, and it represents the hope that Indonesian student has not to forget their origin.
The design elements were not fully shown at the first time the event was published, just some part of them that were shown, due to stimulate the audience curiosity.
It printed on T-shirts and the action of selling itself became Wonderful Indonesia’s first publication.
The design elements were fully shown now. The charm of every island were shown and designed in a square. It represents the national motto of Indonesia, “Bhineka Tunggal Ika” that means “Unity in Diversity”.
Squares also suggest conformity, peacefulness, solidity, security, and equality.
The transactions were use coupons that night. Even the nominal in the coupons is in Chinese Yuan but the design looks like the money of Indonesia, Rupiahs, to bring the atmosphere as you are in Indonesia.
There were also a doorprize from The Indonesian’s Ministry of Tourism for winners to go to Indonesia for holiday and it's free visa. So it was designed looks like a boarding pass represents a ticket to go to Indonesia.
